December 14, 2001
For Immediate Release:
To commemorate the 8th anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Chinese government owned and operated propaganda theme park known as Florida Splendid China, Citizens Against Communist Chinese Propaganda are pleased to join with the representatives from the Uyghur American Association for a Press Conference to be held at Florida Splendid China on December 15, 2001 at 10:30 AM. A statement from the Office of Tibet, New York will also be read in front of the Potala Palace exhibit as part of the same event.
Florida Splendid China is located off US-192 (Irlo Bronson Highway) in Kissimmee, Florida.
Recent statements by Chinese government spokespersons have attempted to implicate the freedom-loving peoples of East Turkestan and Tibet as being terrorists and that these allegations are enough proof to legitimize the continued abuses of human rights and dignity. Florida Splendid China, as an element of the Communist Chinese propaganda machine, is the right venue for this event as the intent is to 'confront the propaganda in front of the propaganda.'
CACCP and the UAA will peaceably attempt to deliver the statements and answer questions in front of the exhibits that represent East Turkestan and Tibet inside the theme park. The participants will purchase admission and meet at the exhibits at the appointed time, however, in the event that the park's management asks them to leave, they will comply immediately and reconvene in front of the Main Gate on Formosa Gardens Blvd.
Also available at this event will be copies of the newly created East Turkestan Guidebook from the Uyghur American Association as well as copies of the statement from the official representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile.
This action is not civil-disobedience and is not a departure from the peaceful, legal tactics that have been employed since the park's opening eight years ago.
